City of Newark and Catholic Charities Partner to Open the Miller Street Pathways to Housing Center

February 1, 2022 – On January 31, 2022, the city of Newark along with Catholic Charities officially opened the doors to the Miller Street Pathways to Housing Center. The facility serves as a 24,000 square-foot shelter equipped with supportive social services to helped the city’s homeless residents. The Shelter consists of a total of 166 beds – 84 for men and 44 for women – and 21 “code blue” beds. Additionally, seven individual suites with a total of 17 beds are available for families.

The Miller Street Pathways to Housing Center not only will have an impact meeting the immediate needs of the homeless today, but will also impact their tomorrows as the Center’s services build stability in the lives of men, women, and children in need,” said John Westervelt, Chief Executive Officer of Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Newark.
